A Federal lawmaker representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Abdulmalik Zubairu, Zanna has described the defection of Gov. Dauda Lawal from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a path to the state’s prosperity.
Zubairu stated this in Gusau on Monday, while addressing a large crowd of APC supporters from the 147 political wards and across the 14 LGAs of the state.
The National Secretariat of the APC has scheduled Tuesday, March 24, to officially receive Gov. Lawal into the party.
The governor’s reception into the party will be performed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the National leadership of the APC, assisted by all the former governors of the state.
The APC supporters at the event comprised various popular political groups under Zanna’s political movement supporters across the state.
According to the lawmaker, Lawal’s defection to the party is a blessing as it will promote unity, peace, and stability to the party as well as the general development of Zamfara.
“On behalf of my supporters across the state, I, Abdulmalik Zubairu, declare my support for the recent defection of Gov. Dauda Lawal to the APC family in the state.
“I join my political leader, Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari, and our President Bola Tinubu in accepting the governor’s defection to the progressive party.
“As we all know, Zanna’s political movement is all about peace, unity, and progress and the general development of our dear state and Nigeria as a whole.
“I, therefore, want to assure my political leader, Sen. Abdul’aziz Yari and Mr President, the APC leadership in the state and national level, as well as the entire APC stakeholders in the state my loyalty.
“I will continue to work for the progress of the party,” Zannah added.
He noted that Lawal’s decision to join the APC was a great move and a wise political decision.
Zannah further noted that the Governor has taken the best political decision for the progress, development, and stability of Zamfara.
He urged them to support Gov Dauda Lawal both in governance and politically for him to succeed in developing the state.
He commended supporters for their kind support and resilience despite all the challenges faced by those who envy the unity, stability, and development of the movement as well as the general development of the party in the state.
According to Zannah, his political movement is a blessing to the APC in Zamfara because “we mean well for the progress of the party and entire state”.
