A frontline politician from Kaduna, Alhaji Sani Sha’aban has decried the incessant cases of kidnapings and other cases of security challenges.
The politician who was speaking to journalists to mark the Eid El Kabir, lamented the killings in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the state .
Kaduna State has found herself in the most disturbing challenges, that is the issue of insecurity, saying that Banditry has become a norm in the state.
“Today, the Southern parts of the state has witnessed large-scale killings, we are not to talking of Giwa and my city Zaria.
“While the leadership of the state is doing the best it can to stem the insecurity, I would emplore the people of the state to also examine their ways of living and the way they do things, the politician added.
He further charged the the people of the state examine their ways and to see if it conforms to the teachings of both the Holy Bible and Quran.
He also asked the citizens of the state to know the type of people they elect to rule over the. Sha’aban further urged them examine the kind of tag the give to their leaders.
Furthermore, he charged the leadership of the state to provide quality, sincere and beneficial leadership for the citizens of the state. The Kaduna born businessman cum politician also asked the government to make sure that it performs the duties it was elected to perform.
On the issue of insecurity in the North particularly and the nation, Sha’aban stressed that the the number of personnel in the various arms of the security agencies are grossly inadequate to effectively police the country, tackle crimes and terrorism.
Drawing from the United Nations requirements of for policing as regard to population, Sha’aban said that the Federal Government needs to recruit more personnel into the various arms of forces particularly the police, Army and Intelligence agency.
He reiterated the need for the Government to adopt the use of modern and artificial intelligence such as drones, precision guided munitions to fight the rising cases of insecurity.
Responding to the question of power rotation between the North and South, the fiery politician added that he is not in support of power rotation saying that democracy is game of people making their choices and the majority having their ways.
According to Sha’aban, the North should not be blackmailed or intimidated into ceding power for any reason, stressing” the edge of the South over the North is oil but they also forgot that oil and gas would go out of fashion in the next 15- 20 years.
He went further,”If you check, from Earnest Sonekan, to Obasanjo, to Goodluck Jonathan, the South held more power than the North but because of the oil, they are insisting that power move to South.
“As for me, let all the regions be on their own and let’s see if the North would suffer. According to geological survey, the North is the richest region in the Federation.
” Check the lives of Northerners before the advent of crude oil and after. You will discover that the oil has improverished the lives of Northerners .Therefore, it is high time, we harness our own resources, Sha’aban added.
