The Jigawa state APC Chieftain and Former Senator representing Jigawa South-East Senatorial District, Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, has defected from the party to the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC). Speaking during his declaration, the former lawmaker expressed confidence in the ADC’s capacity to provide credible leadership and tackle the challenges confronting Jigawa State.
He further stated our exit was a move towards forming a retrogressive structure anchored on grassroots mobilization to quest for an enabling political base for even development to our state. He also used the occasion to formally declare his intention to contest for the governorship seat in the 2027 general elections under the ADC platform. “Our decision is borne out of deep reflection and wide consultations with our supporters. We believe the ADC offers a credible platform to actualise our vision for a better Jigawa State,” Nakudu stated.
Nakudu, who represented Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015, later served as senator from 2015 to 2023, had earlier contested for the APC governorship ticket but lost in the primary election to Governor Umar Namadi.
