Zamfara Women Forum Reaffirms Commitment To Education, Empowerment, Trauma Support

The Zamfara Central Women’s Progressive Awareness Forum has restated its commitment to advancing women’s education, empowerment, unity, and trauma counselling services across key communities in Zamfara State.

Publicity Secretary Aisha Abubakar Sadiq said this was disclosed during a today congress meeting where twenty two members were inaugurated into various leadership positions. The representatives were drawn from four local government areas Gusau, Tsafe, Maru, and Bungudu, were elected through a consensus process.

Speaking at the event, the founder of the forum, Comrade Usman Umar, emphasized the importance of sustained efforts to uplift women, particularly those in vulnerable communities. He noted that education remains a critical pathway for improving the lives of women and girls, while empowerment initiatives can foster self-reliance and active participation in community development.

Umar also highlighted that the forum operates under a constitutional framework designed to guide its activities across the four local government areas. He expressed appreciation to the forum’s legal adviser, Barrister Firdausi Aminu Baba Salati, for her dedication in developing the guiding constitution.

According to him, the forum’s initiatives are specifically targeted at vulnerable groups, including women with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity in its programs.

In her remarks, the newly elected chairperson, Rahama Sani Aliyu, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work collaboratively with members to achieve the forum’s goals. She described the role as one that requires sacrifice, sincerity, and commitment, noting that the organization is non-profit in nature.

Aliyu also urged members to uphold mutual respect, regardless of differences in age, tribe, or religion, as a foundation for unity and progress.

Similarly, the forum’s secretary, Pharmacist Hauwa’u Malami Aliyu Yandoto, stated that the initiative was established to promote social cohesion, economic development, and peacebuilding among women in the region.

She stressed that women play a vital role in society and that by coming together to share ideas and strategies, they can unlock economic opportunities, raise awareness, and create an environment conducive to peace and sustainable development.
