Caritas Nigeria Donates Food Packages, Toiletries To 210 Zamfara IDPs 

An NGO, Caritas Nigeria in collaboration with Voluntary Aid Initiative has organized a one-day community dialogue for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Zamfara State.

The event took place in the Tsunami area of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

A total of 210 IDPs comprising 150 women and 60 men attended the event.

Also in attendance, were traditional and religious leaders, youths and women groups, community leaders and CSOs among others.

The community leaders from Tsunami, Bulunku, Samba, and Anguwar Saminaka areas in Gusau LGA appreciated the NGO over the intervention which they described as timely and welcome development.

The dialogue was declared open by Hussain Hassan, the Programme Officer of VAI, the collaborating partner of the Caritas Nigeria.

During the event, there were discussions on roles of women in conflict prevention and mediation

Hassan noted that the distribution of food packages and toiletries to the IDPs aimed is at enhancing their hygiene and general wellbeing.

The Consultant to Caritas Nigeria, Mahmud Malami Sadiq; led the in-depth discussion session with CSOs and community leaders on the roles of women in conflict prevention and mediation.

Other organizations that attended the event were, Health Standard Concern, Youth Initiative for Peace and Development, FOMWAN, and the Association of People with Special Needs.
