Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 30-year-old woman, Halima Ibrahim, for alleged arms trafficking in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect was arrested during a joint operation conducted by troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, local vigilantes and hunters in Kisayi and Dogon Daji communities.
The operation followed the abduction of a man identified as Dr Abraham Owoicho on August 19, 2026.
According to the Army, Halima was apprehended while allegedly attempting to escape with two AK-47 rifles.
A search of her residence in Kisayi B subsequently led to the recovery of another AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated firearm, a military cap and three mobile phones.
The Army said preliminary investigations indicated that one of the recovered AK-47 rifles was allegedly owned by the suspect’s husband, identified as Ibrahim.
The suspect remains in military custody as investigations continue to determine the source of the firearms and establish her alleged involvement in arms trafficking.
The Army assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
