The Zamfara State Government on Wednesday, embarked on a two-day sensitisation Programme for All Progressives Congress (APC) political groups over 2027 general elections and second-term ambition of Gov Dauda Lawal and all APC candidates.
The sensitisation programme was organised by the office of the Special Adviser to Zamfara Governor on Political Matters.
The workshop was declared open by Gov Dauda Lawal, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Mukhtar Lugga.
The workshop was attended by 100 accredited political groups from across the 14 LGAs of the state.
In a remark, the Special Adviser to Gov Lawal on Political Matters, Hon Sani Abdullahi said that the sensitisation workshop is aimed to sensitise 100 political groups after endorsing Gov Lawal’s second term ambition.
Abdullahi noted that, the workshop is more than a political gathering, “in fact, It is a platform for political education, strategic engagement, and collective reflection”.
He commended the organisers of the workshop and the leadership and members of 100 accredited political groups over their endorsement of Gov Lawal’s second term bid.
“I want to appreciate our political support groups for their patriotism, dedication, and steadfast commitment to promoting responsible political participation across Zamfara.
“This gathering is a clear demonstration of our collective commitment to strengthening democratic participation, fostering political unity, and consolidating the achievements recorded under the leadership of Gov Lawal.
“I want to reaffirm the commitment of Lawal’s administration to strengthening collaboration among political stakeholders, encouraging constructive engagement across party lines, promoting peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development in Zamfara,” he explained.
Abdullahi further said that the workshop also seeks to deepen our understanding of democratic values, strengthen our organisational capacity, encourage issue-based campaigns, and reinforce our shared responsibility of ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible elections.
“In the past three years, the administration of Gov Lawal has remained resolute in its commitment to rebuilding Zamfara, despite numerous challenges.
“The administration has pursued bold reforms and implemented people-centred policies aimed at restoring public confidence in government.
According to him, significant progress has been recorded in infrastructure development, road construction and rehabilitation, healthcare delivery, educational revitalisation within three years of Lawal’s administration.
“As political leaders and mobilisers, we must reject violence, hate speech, misinformation, intimidation, and all forms of political intolerance. Instead, we must continue to promote peace, mutual respect, and national cohesion.
“The strength of any democratic society lies not merely in electoral victory but in the maturity, civility, and responsibility with which political competition is conducted”, he explained.
“I also extend my sincere gratitude to the leadership of the 100 accredited political support groups, the organising committee, our traditional and religious institutions, security agencies, development partners, members of the media, and every participant whose contribution has made this workshop a success.
“Let us leave this gathering with a shared determination to work tirelessly for the progress of our party, the prosperity of Zamfara State, and the unity of our great nation,” he further said.
