The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has issued a fresh summons to former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, over an alleged $14.86 million fraud.
The development was disclosed by the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, on Monday.
Oyewale said the former governor had been declared wanted by the commission and urged him to make himself available to investigators.
“He has been declared wanted; he should make himself available to the commission,” Oyewale said.
The fresh summons came after Sylva accused the anti-graft agency of conducting its affairs more like an organ of the All Progressives Congress than an institution of the Nigerian state.
The EFCC had earlier declared Sylva wanted in November 2025 over an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion involving $14,859,257.
Sylva, who previously served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has also been linked to an alleged plot against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He is listed as a defendant and described as “still at large” in a 13-count federal charge relating to allegations of treason, terrorism-related offences, conspiracy and money laundering arising from the alleged plot.
Investigators reportedly accused the former governor of being a principal financier of the alleged plot and claimed that he contributed about N785 million through Purple Waves Limited, an Abuja-based company.
Sylva reportedly left the country after the alleged plot became public.
His planned return was subsequently put on hold after he reportedly learnt that security operatives had raided his Abuja residence and arrested some of his associates.
The former governor has not been convicted of the allegations and remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty by a court of law.
