Police Arrest Suspected Car Theft Kingpin, Recover Stolen Camry in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin, 28-year-old Mosuru Issa, and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry in Mowe.

Issa was arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

According to the police, operatives of the Mowe Division flagged down a wine-coloured Toyota Camry during a routine check, but the three occupants allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operatives gave chase and succeeded in arresting Issa, while the vehicle was recovered.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigation revealed that the Camry was allegedly stolen on September 7, 2026, from where it was parked in Ojo, Lagos State.

He said efforts were ongoing to locate the owner of the vehicle and apprehend the two fleeing accomplices.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing against vehicle theft and highway crime.

The command also urged residents to report suspicious activities through its toll-free line and advised vehicle owners to use anti-theft devices when parking in public places.
