2027: Tinubu’s Re-election Gets Boost As Lokpobiri Calls For Women’s Support

Dr Ogechi Grace Lokpobiri, National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance, has called on Nigerian women and health-sector professionals to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Lokpobiri made the appeal on Friday in Abuja, saying the administration’s reform agenda deserved sustained support as the country seeks to address structural economic challenges and achieve sustainable development.

She acknowledged that some of the reforms had created short-term difficulties for citizens but argued that their broader objectives should also be considered.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.

Lokpobiri, who is the wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, said the reforms were reshaping critical sectors of the economy and could strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global community.

She urged women to participate actively in politics and support policies they believe would improve the welfare of families and communities.

“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she said.

The TIHSEPA coordinator called on women nationwide to mobilise peacefully around government programmes focused on healthcare, social interventions and economic empowerment.

She also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whom she described as an “Icon of Impact”, for her interventions targeting women, children and vulnerable Nigerians.

Lokpobiri cited the Renewed Hope Initiative and other programmes in healthcare, education, social welfare and economic empowerment as efforts she said complemented the Federal Government’s development agenda.

She said the First Lady’s advocacy for women and families had drawn attention to the need for inclusive leadership and improved support for vulnerable Nigerians.

On healthcare, Lokpobiri urged medical and other health-sector professionals to contribute their expertise to ongoing reform discussions and efforts to improve access to quality services.

She described healthcare as a critical component of national development, noting that a healthier population would support productivity and economic growth.

She said the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance would continue to engage health professionals and other stakeholders on healthcare improvement and national development.

Lokpobiri also called for national unity and sustained implementation of government policies, expressing optimism that the reform agenda would create more opportunities for Nigerians.
