A retired military officer and security expert, Bello Muhammad Bakyasuwa has said that he declared to contest for House of Reps, seat for Bakura/Maradun Federal Constituency in Zamfara state under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 general elections.
Bakyasuwa resigned from the All Progressive Congress (APC) over alleged failure of the party to address lingering security challenges in Zamfara and Nigeria as a whole.
“I will be contesting for Bakura/Maradun Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections under the platform of APM.
“My decision to enter the race for Bakura/Maradun Federal Constituency seat was driven by the need to contribute to national development, particularly in addressing insecurity and challenges of Education especially at grassroots level,” he said.
According to him, if elected, security would be his top priority.
” My number one agenda is security, I would prioritise security, peace building, education and economic empowerment,” he assured.
He noted that insecurity remains a major challenge in Zamfara State and other states in Northern Nigeria.
“The security challenges directly caused a worsen economic hardship in Zamfara state especially in the rural communities.
“Our farmers cannot go to farms, our traders cannot go to markets due to the activities of bandits and kidnappers.
“This is very unfortunate when you compare the present situation in Zamfara with previous years,” Bakyasuwa lamented.
As a former Director Security Matters, Zamfara State Government and also the immediate past Commandant Zamfara State Anti Thuggery Agency, he believes he has the experience in managing insecurity.
“As an indigene of Zamfara State from Maradun Local Government Area, I have greater role to play in addressing insecurity, education challenges and economic hardship seriously affecting rural communities in Zamfara State,” he insisted.
Bakyasuwa called on people of Zamfara State to vote for competency, not based on political parties at all levels in the 2027 elections.
He urged Zamfara residents to assess candidates based on their records, character, competence and ability not based on party affiliations.
