The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Host Communities, and Member Representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim Ahmed Mai Kero, has flagged off the construction of laboratories, classrooms, a solar-powered borehole, and the upgrading of the Administrative Block at Government Girls Secondary School Maimuna Gwarzo, Unguwan Sanusi Constituency of Kaduna South Local Government.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Sharifudeen Ibrahim Muhammad, made available on Saturday.
The member, who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Auwal Alhassan Gwadabe, while flagging off the project tagged, “Legacy Project,” said the project consists of the construction and equipping of four world-class laboratories, the construction of eight blocks of classrooms, the upgrading of the Administrative Block for the staff, and the provision of a solar-powered borehole.
Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim Ahmed, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Sharifudeen Ibrahim Muhammad, highlighted the importance of educating the girl-child as the reason he sited the project at Government Girls Secondary School Maimuna Gwarzo.
He noted that educating a girl-child is like educating a nation. He appealed to the management of the school, as well as the host community, to give maximum cooperation to the contractors while executing the project.
In his speech, Engineer Ali Ibrahim Dan Azumi, who is the representative of ZBMC, a UK subsidiary construction company, while assuring that the project will be executed in line with global best practices, also noted that the bottlenecks had been cleared and that they have been mobilized to site.
He added that the project includes the construction and equipping of five standard laboratories, eight blocks of classrooms, the upgrading of the School Administrative Block, as well as the provision of a solar-powered borehole.
The educational contract, which was awarded through the National Secondary School Education Commission at the cost of one billion, five million naira (N1.5 billion), is expected to be completed within six months.
The Principal of the Senior Section, who spoke on behalf of her counterpart at the Junior Section, Hajiya Rashida Zubairu Abdullahi, expressed their joy over the project, which they described as the first of its kind in the history of Kaduna State.
She lamented that, over the years, the science laboratory had been neglected, narrating how the school had, on countless occasions, made submissions for its renovation since the establishment of the school, but all to no avail.
Hajiya Rashida Abdullahi thanked the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for facilitating the Federal Government ICT Center for the school while serving as the Kaduna Central Senator.
The Sarkin Ruwan Zazzau and the District Head of Tudun Wada in Kaduna South Local Government, Alhaji Tahir Mahmud, on behalf of the host communities, thanked the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Senator Uba Sani for their developmental strides.
Also, the APC Party Chairman for Kaduna South Local Government, Alhaji Yakubu Soso, assured the Kaduna South constituents that with Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim Ahmed Mai Kero in charge, they should expect more life-changing projects.
