The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Gidanwaya Chapter has commended the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Uba Sani over approving the implementation of the 70% CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure, 65 years retirement age policy.
In a communique signed by COEASU, Gidanwaya Chairman, Dr. Christopher Nuhu Yerima, made available to our correspondent on Thursday November 20, 2025, the union also hailed the governor for ensuring release of accreditation funds for both NCE and undergraduate programmes, the renovation of students’ hostels and others.
“The Congress of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Gidanwaya Chapter, held it’s Congress on Tuesday, 18th November, 2025 and following a unanimous resolution, has issued the following communiqué:
“The congress expresses its heartfelt commendation to His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, for approving the implementation of the 70% CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure, 65 years retirement age policy, release of accreditation funds for both NCE and Undergraduate programs, and the renovation of students’ hostels, Science Laboratories, Science Complex, 1000 capacity lecture theatre, and parking lots at the main campus of the College in Gidanwaya,” it said.
The congress also commended the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, for his tireless efforts in facilitating the advancement of teacher education in the college and state as a whole.
“Furthermore, the congress notes with appreciation the contribution of Hon. Ismaila Mahmud Lawal, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Kaduna State House of Assembly, for sponsoring a bill for the amendment of the Kaduna State College of Education law to accommodate the Dual mandate.
“The congress also commends the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, for awarding a faculty complex to be sited at the main campus of the college in Gidanwaya, a gesture that will significantly enhance the academic environment,” it added.
Additionally, the congress expressed its gratitude to Senator Sunday Marshal Katung and Hon. Dan Amos for their immense support and contribution to the growth and development of the college.
It therefore, mandated the leadership of the union to write a strong-worded letter of commendation to the Governor and other dignitaries mentioned above, expressing the appreciation of COEASU Gidanwaya Chapter for their support and commitment to the development of teacher education in Kaduna State.
