The third edition of Beach Volleyball Open/star Tour has endef in Yola, with teams smiling home with cash gifts for their performance.
The championship which took place at the Adamawa State Polytechnic Beach Volleyball Ground, ended in a fanfare after a week-long display of exceptional skills, passion, and competitiveness by players across the country.
The event, which featured both the Star and Open tour categories, drew teams from various states, creating a vibrant atmosphere of sportsmanship and talent discovery.
In the Star Tour men’s category, the Simplified Beach Volleyball team of Port Harcourt emerged champions after a strong campaign throughout the tournament.
Kada Prince of Kaduna secured second place, while Philric team, sponsored by Adamawa-born sports promoter, Eric Kefas, clinched third position.
For the Star tour women’s final, Kada Emerald of Kaduna claimed the top spot, defeating Anista Team of Jos in straight sets, 2–0.
The Adamawa women’s team put up an impressive fight to secure third place.
In the Open tour category, tailored for beginners to develop and showcase their talents, was another highlight of the tournament.
Kano Pillars proved too formidable for the Adamawa Spikers, winning 2–0 with set scores of 21–7 and 21–18.
While Adamawa Team 2 finished third after a spirited outing.
Dignitaries present at the closing ceremony, presented trophies and cash prizes to outstanding teams and players in recognition of their performances.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Head of Service Pharm. Shehu Isa Ardo, commended the organizers and athletes, noting that the state remains committed to sports development.
He highlighted the ongoing construction of the state stadium as a key investment aimed at providing athletes with world-class facilities and platforms to excel.
President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engr. Musa Nimrod, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the high level of skill displayed by players.
He emphasized the need for a Beach Volleyball grassroots program to expand youth participation nationwide.
Similarly, Chairman of the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission, DCP Steven Hasso (Rtd.), said that Beach Volleyball has come to stay in Nigeria, adding that the NVBF and state governments are working tirelessly to promote the sport and encourage massive youth involvement.
The successful hosting of the third edition of the Beach Volleyball Open/Star Tour further cements Adamawa State’s position as a rising hub for sporting excellence, inspiring both established athletes and emerging talents across the nation.
