A Federal High Court sitting in Gusau has adjourned until August 5, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses in a suit challenging the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara North Senatorial District primary election.
The case was filed by a senatorial aspirant, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, against the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Senator Sahabi Ya’u, alleging irregularities in the party’s Zamfara North senatorial primary.
When the matter came up on Tuesday for the adoption of final written addresses, counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Bello Galadi, informed the court that one of the respondents had filed and served a counter-affidavit in response to the originating summons.
Galadi noted that, “One of the three respondents filed and served us with a counter-affidavit against the originating summons. Statutorily, we are entitled to three days to file our reply.”
He said his client remains dissatisfied with the conduct of the primary and is seeking judicial intervention to ensure due process and internal democracy within the party.
The presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko, granted the plaintiff leave to respond to the counter-affidavit and adjourned the matter to August 5, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses
The court is expected to hear the final written addresses from all parties on the adjourned date before taking the next step in the determination of the suit.
