A family in Akure, Ondo State, has been thrown into mourning after three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, were found dead on a farm around the Owena Army Barracks.
The deceased were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.
The children reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.
According to reports, the siblings later left the farm to return home. Their father, however, discovered that they were missing after he returned home, prompting a search for them.
The search continued until Saturday when the bodies of the three children were reportedly found near the bank of a small river on the farm.
The circumstances surrounding their deaths remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had commenced an investigation into the deaths.
Abayomi said the children had accompanied their father to the farm before they were reported missing.
He said the bodies had been released to their father for burial, while detectives continued investigations to determine what led to their deaths.
In a statement, the police spokesperson said, “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026.
“The victims, identified as Joshua Jonah, 11 years; Jacob Jonah, 11 years, (twins), and Blessing Jonah, five years, reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.
“They later left the farm for home but were discovered missing when their father returned home.”
The police said further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
