The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmad Chuso, mnips, fwc, psc(+), received the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone 12, His Excellency, Alh. Abdulmalik Mahmood (Baraden Katagum) and his entourage on a familiarization visit to the command.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gombe State Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, made available to our correspondent on Friday.
It said that members of the delegation included the Vice Chairman, Zone 12, Alh. Mustapha Aliyu Ibrahim, Gombe State PCRC Chairman, Comrade Garba Ubale, Bauchi State PCRC Chairman, Amb. Muhammad Zubair (Iyan Dambam), Vice Chairman, PCRC Zone 12, Alh. Muhammad Adamu Toro and other members of the PCRC executive.
In his remarks, the Zonal Chairman, PCRC, HE Alh. Abdulmalik Mahmood, commended the efforts of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, in maintaining peace and security in Bauchi and Gombe States. He noted that the two states remain among the peaceful states in the country.
The Zonal Chairman further reaffirmed the commitment of the PCRC to supporting the Police by promoting the positive image of the Force, serving as a bridge between the Police and the communities they serve and contributing to the welfare and well-being of Police officers.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police welcomed the Zonal Chairman and his entourage to the Gombe State Command and described his appointment as a significant development for the Police Community Relations Committee.
CP Umar Ahmad Chuso also commended the Gombe State PCRC Chairman for his contributions towards maintaining peace and strengthening Police-community relations in the state.
The Commissioner further assured the delegation that the Gombe State Police Command would continue to collaborate with the Police Community Relations Committee and other stakeholders to promote and sustain peace and security across the state.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of the Police and the PCRC to strengthening community engagement, fostering mutual trust and ensuring the effective implementation of community-based policing initiatives.
