Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Saturday, presented Staff of Office to the 16th Emir of Gusau, HRH Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello ll.
The Monarch is among the 19 Emirs of Zamfara State who received staff of offices from Governor Dauda Lawal on Saturday at Trade Fair Complex in Gusau.
Gusau Emirate is rooted in the 19th-century Sokoto Jihad and currently serves as the heart and capital of Zamfara State in Northwestern Nigeria.
HRH, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello was appointed as the 16th Emir of Gusau in July 2025, following the death of his father, late Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello who passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 71.
The Emir is the direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa who is the founder of Gusau Emirate.
As part of the activities of the coronation ceremony, the Gusau Emirate had earlier organized a Public Lecture on History and Life of the Founder of Gusau Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa by various scholars.
The Emir also performed a grand turbanig ceremony of traditional titles to important personalities who contributed to the development of the Emirate and Zamfara State.
Presenting the staff of office to the Emir, Governor Lawal charged traditional rulers in the state to help government at all levels in restoring peace and stability in the state.
Lawal described Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as a gentle, compassionate and humble personality.
He urged the traditional rulers to be a beacon of unity, peace, and development, promoting harmonious coexistence among their subjects, Zamfara state and beyond.
“The traditional leaders are expected to serve as custodians of their subjects and their cultural heritage,” he noted
The governor expressed optimism that that the 16th Emir of Gusau will continue to provide a leadership that would propel development to the Emirate, Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
In his response, the Sarkin Katsinan Gusau assured to continue to provide leadership that will promote peace and stability and attracting phenomenal socio-economic development to the emirate and Zamfara State state.
He also assured that he will stand by all his subjects and ensure peace, security and development of the Emirate while urging the people to remain law abiding.
